Jeep

We found out today that the insurance company is going to fix our jeep instead of paying us out.  All the parts have been ordered and so now it will be just a matter of time before it gets back to where it was.  I just hope none of the parts gets back ordered.

The Owl is Back

The other day Audrey told me that the owl was back in the trees behind her house  and so I snuck out and took some pictures of it before it flew away.

Car Accident

Just to let everyone know that I had a car accident yesterday morning.  Everyone is fine and no one was injured but my car was not as lucky.  As part of our insurance we have some money for a car rental.  Rod and I went to Lethbridge yesterday and  picked up the rental car to drive until after Christmas holidays and then we will go from there.  I will probably find out Monday whether  they are going to fix our jeep or give us money to put towards another vehicle.  The problem with paying us out is that  our jeep is paid for either this month or next month and we don't want to have another loan on another vehicle.  Merry Christmas to me!!

On the brighter side, I was busy  wrapping Christmas presents today.  I have everything wrapped and under the tree.  I just need to get some stocking stuffers and then I am all ready expect for cleaning the house which I plan on doing on Monday.

Porter Tanner Associates Inc. Christmas Party

Rod and I were invited to Logan Porter's annual Christmas party held at the Lethbridge Lodge Hotel.  We had an excellant roast beef dinner and a nice visit with some of the people Rod worked with last summer.  Logan has been really good to us and we have really appreciated all that he has done for us.  Every year he  spends money improving the ranch.  We hope that soon he will put in the new cattle guard so that we can keep the cows out of the yard, but it might not be this winter.

Word of Caution

Rod said that the lake is really smooth, so when everyone comes home for Christmas, they should make sure that they bring their  winter clothes. He has put studs  in the tires  of the quad's and is buying a new plastic scoop shovel this week.  Shannon and Steve and family came out this afternoon and went sledding and had a great time.  One word of caution!!  We have been trying to keep the cows out of the yard and they just won't stay out, so we finally had to block off the cattle guard with panels. So when anyone comes they need to open up the panels and drive through and then close them again.

Hot Rod

I had this morning off work and so I went for a walk to the end of our road and back.  It was really quite a nice calm morning and it was really nice to get some fresh air.  When I got back home Rod had put studs in his motorcycle tires and wanted to drive over to the lake and ride around on the ice.  Here are some pictures that I took.

Christmas Concert

Tomorrow night is our Relief Society dinner and program at the church.  The dinner is also at the same time as Aidan's choir performance.    I found out that the choir was putting on a performance this afternoon  for those people who have kids and that can't make it tomorrow night, so Shannon, Audrey and I went today instead of tomorrow night.  They put on an awesome performance and it is so nice to be able to go to both.

Exciting Genealogy

I finished reading the New Testament last week and so my new project was to start reading the D&C.  I also decided that I would read some church history to go along with the D & C  so that I could keep up to date with time and places and things that where happening at that time period.  I was reading in the church history the genealogy of the prophet Joseph Smith and I discovered on the Mack side that Ebenezer Mack was married to a Hannah Huntley from Lyme Conn. (grandmother and grandfather of Lucy Mack)  A few years ago, when I was working on  my genealogy on my mother's side,  I was researching the Huntley's from Lyme Conn., so I wondered if they where related.  I found out that yes they are.   Lucy Mack's father Soloman Mack had a sister Phebe Mack who married Amos Huntley who is my ancestor.  Actually I am double related because cousins married each other on the family tree.  So my genealogy lines goes up through Hannah Huntley  and also up through her daughter Phebe Mack who  married  Amos Huntley.  I think that is pretty exciting!!!

Christmas Tree

Well, I was able to put up the Christmas tree yesterday,  so it feels a little more like Christmas around our house.  Tonight Shannon & Steve and girls came out and after the Christmas Devotional from the First Presidency, we decorated Grandma's house and put up her tree.  Yesterday, Rod and I went to Lethbridge and finished up all the last minute shopping and now we can relax and enjoy the season, and remember what Christmas is really all about.  Merry Christmas!!

The Night the Reindeer Rocked

Tonight, I went to Aidan's Christmas performance called "The Night the Reindeer Rocked" in at the Carriage House Theatre.  The children were so cute and it was an awesome performance.  Tomorrow, I am determined to put up my Christmas tree and I have most of my Christmas shopping done.  I am determined to avoid most of the stress of Christmas by planning and preparing in advance and not leaving things until the last minute.
