Waterton - October 23rd

Neldon Hatch, the instructor from the photo class that I took last Wednesday challenged us to take some pictures using different settings, other than the automatic mode on our cameras.  I went to Waterton yesterday to take some pictures.  It was  kind of miserable outside but I did experiment and some pictures turned out and some did not.  It sure was a lot prettier outside a few weeks ago but I did take some pictures of some birds that I liked.  I found that when I ate my lunch outside the birds came to me.  The great thing about a digital camera is that you can see the pictures and just delete those pictures that you don't like or you can photo shop and fix them.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from yesterday.

Digital Photography Class

Last night I attended my first Digital Photography Class taught by Neldon Hatch and put on by  adult education.  I have information overload!!!!  I decided to get up at 6:00 a.m. and get everything I needed done, so that I could go outside and  try and capture the sunrise using some of the knowledge  that I learned last night and trying out different settings on my camera.   I have two pictures that turned out alright.   Tonight I am reading my owner's manual to my camera and writing down key points that I want to remember.  My problem is that I forget what I have read five minutes before, but if I keep reading and putting into practise what I have learned, maybe I will remember better.  It is terrible to be getting older  and can't remember things!!!

New Printer

On Thursday Rod and I went to Lethbridge for a few things.  I have been wanting a new printer for some time now as my old one was not what I wanted.  My old printer had a tough time printing onto photo paper and the colors were not very bright.   I bought a new HP printer and I absolutely love it!!  I have been printing up a storm.  I am not very computer literate when it comes to connecting up new hardware and the latest devises and so I was very proud of myself in being able to hook up the printer by myself.  A big feat for me!!!  When Derick was here for Thanksgiving he upgraded my computer for me and helped put back those programs I messed up on and he also freed up some space on my hard drive.  My computer runs faster and I am able to use my new computer software program that I bought.  Thank you again Derick for all your help.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend with lots of family that came to visit.  Derick, Megan and family drove up from Spanish Fork, Utah and arrived Friday afternoon.  Lindsey, Mar, Robert, Crystal and Samantha also arrived Friday night.  On Saturday Dan came with his families from Calgary.   Scott,  Mandy and children arrived  from Medicine Hat.  Shannon, Steve and their family came out. Altogether there were 38 family members for Thanksgiving dinner with only three family members (Ruth, Jeff and Alexis) missing. We celebrated Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday because most of the family would not be here on the Monday.   We did have one mishap with Emberly breaking her arm on Saturday afternoon. She was running between houses when she fell and broke her arm.  It is my prayer that she will heal quickly and return back to normal in no time.

It was really busy, but nice,  to have everyone come home for the holiday.   I am  really grateful for each one of my family members and all that they do me.

October 6, 2010 - Selling Calves

We have sold this years calf crop with the exception of two of the smaller calves.  We received a better price for our calves than we have in years.  Now we can pay some debts and bills and have a little left over to last us throughout the year.

Buster

I just had to share my new pictures of Buster in the leaves.  I am so surprised he stayed put, so that I could snap some pictures of him.

October 4, 2010 - Sore Ankle

Rod went riding his motorbike up in the Community Pasture with Mark Boyson yesterday.  As he was loading his motorcycle, he stepped in a hole and twisted his ankle.  Last night it was swollen and sore. Today it is still swollen but now it has taken on a black and purple color.  It was a good thing he had on his motorcycle boots or  he might of broken his leg.

Steve's cousin passed away and so Steve and Shannon made a trip over to Kyle Saskatchewan on Saturday  to the funeral (Kyle is about six hours away). They left about 6:30 in the morning, drove to the funeral and then arrived  back home around 10:30 last night.   Rod and I looked after the girls while they were away.  We  went  to town to  pick up Aidan after play practise and so we  all went out for pizzas
