Cleaning Day

Audrey phoned me yesterday at work and told me the wind was really blowing out, and that I had better head for home.  When I arrived home I couldn't get through the drifts by the cattle guard so I left my vehicle out on the road and headed for the house trying not to get snow blasted.  I came home to a surprise.  Buster had torn a magazine and a book of Rod's all to pieces, and was scattered all over the rug in the front room.  He has never done that before.  I asked Rod if he was mad about his book and his reply was "It is only a book!"  I am married to a great guy.  Also, the wind was blowing so hard that it had blown the pilot light out on the furnace, so the house was freezing cold.  It had been out for quite awhile and so it took along time for the house to heat up again.

The wind blew all night and when I  woke up this morning it was still  blowing really hard, so I decided it just wasn't worth going out today.  I stayed home and re-organized my office/scrapbooking room.  Rod let me use some shelves that he had downstairs, so that I could put some of my scrapbooking binder on.  I also cleaned out some drawers and re-organized some papers and got rid of a bunch of junk that I didn't need.  Once my project was done,  I felt so much better.

New shelves for me to put my binders on.

Sooooo Cold!!!

As I was going home from work tonight the temperature was  -23 degrees at 5:00.  It was snowing and the wind was blowing and then I heard the radio announcer say that it was going to be -15 on Thursday.  I was so excited and let out a cheer.  I am so ready for it to warm up this week-end after a week of frigid cold weather and snow.

Blast of Winter

Well, it has snowed off and on all week with really cold temperatures.  I can honestly say, I really do not like the cold of the winter months but I really think the snow is pretty, especially on the trees.  If we could have winter with snow without the cold that would be alright with me.

Crystal, Robbie and Samantha came from Medicine Hat to our place for the week-end.  Crystal and I went to the Women's Relaxer on Saturday.  We had a good time but the key-note speaker was a little dry.  It is really fun to associate with Crystal and spend the day with her.  My sister Elaine also drove down from Calgary to go with us.  She drove down Saturday morning and said the roads were terrible.  She almost turned around and didn't come because of black ice on the highway.  She is going back to Calgary tomorrow, so I hope she has better roads going back.

Audrey and I went to Lethbridge today.  I have officially started my Christmas shopping and bought some gifts for my grandchildren.  I talked to Rod this morning and told him I thought we needed a new Christmas tree because  last year ours was losing a lot of the needles all over the floor.  I saw a pre-lit Christmas tree at  Costco on sale for $76.00 less than the original price.  I couldn't pass up that kind of deal and so now we have a new tree.  I am kind of excited to set it up but I think I will wait for a couple of weeks.  It will also be really nice not having to struggle with the long string of Christmas lights.

Grandma's Chocolates

Lindsey and Mar  have been looking in Calgary to buy some chocolate for Grandma Walburger.  They found some large chunks of chocolate for a great price and Mar drove it down last night from Calgary.  Now Grandma can make her famous chocolates for Christmas that  are so good and delicious.  Too many temptations!!  Thank you Lindsey and Mar for all your help.

Where Can I Turn for Peace

I wanted to share the words to one of my favorite hymns. The words remind me that no matter what trials I face,  that the Savior does understand and is there to offer comfort and peace.

Where can I turn for peace?
Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
I draw myself apart, Searching my soul?

Where, when my aching grows,
Where, when I languish.
Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
Who, who can understand?
He, only One.
I found this thought on the back of the Lifestyles Recognition night program.
The Best Moments.....
in our lives usually occur when a person's body or mind
is stretched to it's limits in a voluntary effort to
accomplish something difficult and worthwhile

Lifestyles Recognition Night 2010

Rod and I went to the Lifestyles Recognition Night where we had a delicious dinner and program. (Although I told Rod he had better eat before we go because he really does not like vegetables very much and is kind of a fussy eater).   He went to the dinner and program to  support  me and I really appreciate him.   Rod  has also lost weight and I am very proud of him and his efforts.   I was looking back to when I started the lifestyle program and it was November 7, 2008.  It has been a program that has changed my life for the better.  Not only did I lose the weight that I needed to lose but I have gained so much more.  I have more energy and zest for life.  I realize that I need to implement this program into  my life daily but  if I slip I have the life skills to get back on track the next day.  My goal is never go back but I know that I have to work at it daily.  GREAT PROGRAM!!!

This is a quote that I received that I want to share-

Have the WILL to try and the FAITH to believe it is possible

Lindsey's New Truck

Tonight, Lindsey and Mar came down from Calgary  so that they could go across the border and pick up a package in Babb and also get their hair done at Details Salon on Saturday.   I was wondering who in the heck was  pulling  into the driveway  tonight with a truck.  (My first thought was  Scott and Mandy and kids were here).  Lindsey traded off her jeep  for a  truck.  She told me a little while ago that she was thinking of trading off her jeep and buying a truck and of course I was thinking she was going to buy a small economical truck,  but it's not small and its probably not very fuel effectient, (like her Jeep),   but it is Lindsey.   It actually is pretty nice.  I will let her tell you all the details.

Many Blessings

Last night we took Rod's mother to the Leavitt Seniors potluck dinner.  Rod said he never thought he would see the day when he would be going to a seniors dinner and taking his mother.  How time flies!!  It was a very interesting evening because Mary Ann (Dixey) Hershie talked to the seniors about her trip to Ethiopia.  She is with an organization that helps to raise money for school supplies and to develop a pipe line to pipe clean drinking water  to the villages.  The people there are very poor and lack even the basic necessities of life but are very humble and appreciative.  We take so many blessings and things for granted where we live.  I made sure when I said my prayers last night to thank my Heavenly Father for clean drinking water and that it is made so available to me and for all my other many blessing.

November 4, 2010

It was such a nice day that Rod and I decided to go for a quad ride up to the Pole Haven Community Pasture. It was wonderful to see all the new little pine trees that are growing up since the fire a few years ago. For a few years after the fire it was very depressing to go to the Community Pasture because of all the dead trees and black everywhere and no sign of life anywhere. Now it is nice and lush and green, with thousands of little pine trees growing.   I even thought that it would be nice to have a real Christmas tree this year, but that thought only lasted a moment.  In our younger days  it was really fun to take the family up there on the snowmobiles,  in the snow,  and find the perfect Christmas tree.  Oh! the good old days!

Oh! If you recognize this sweatshirt and it's yours, it's at my house! Thanks for letting me wear it!

Halloween

I don't know about you but I found Halloween very hard.  Too many temptations!!!  I know I shouldn't eat chocolate bars, candy and chips but when they are in the house I have a hard time staying away.  I  am going to give away the rest of the left over chocolate bars and I have set a goal to eat better this week.

Curves where I work out has brought in some new machines as of last week.  Yeh!  no more walking in the snow in the winter.   They have brought in a tread mill, bicycle machine and also a glider machine.  It will make life a lot easier for me during the winter months.
